Ever since I was young I had a love of the ocean, I’d spend weekends looking through rockpools and scanning beaches for odd finds. While my teenage years and early 20s took me to more mountainous areas, delving into rock climbing, mountaineering and bush, I never lost the need to be near the ocean. Something I imagine most New Zealanders experience. I was lucky enough to get my first boat job in Akaroa, working alongside Hectors dolphins. Crewing soon became nature guiding and swim guiding, and with the help of one of our late skippers became a skipper myself. Now I have the incredible opportunity to take up to 99 people out to see one of New Zealands best features, it’s marine life. After 7 years I can honestly say, It never get old!
