My name is Helena, and I am a German Marine Biology MSc student at the University of the Algarve with a strong passion for cetaceans and marine conservation. My passion began when I saw dolphins for the first time during a trip to the Azores with a responsible ecotourism company, which inspired me to pursue a career as both a cetacean researcher and marine guide.
I have gained hands-on experience in cetacean monitoring, stranding response, and marine wildlife observation through research projects and internships in Portugal, Germany, and Spain. I am currently conducting my master’s thesis on cetacean health and expect to graduate by the end of 2026.
As a certified Marine Guide, I am excited to share my knowledge and help people connect with marine wildlife, promoting responsible and sustainable ecotourism. Therefore, my goal is to inspire others to appreciate and protect marine ecosystems through educational experiences.
